Google’s mobile site speed test tool updates with a new set of features that help test a site’s speed on Test My Site, and now show number of visitors a site is losing due to higher load time, along side a sites comparission with competitions.
In a post, Google has announced an update to the Test My Site, says the tool will now show you how many visitors your site is losing because of site’s speed and how you compare to your competitors.
Taking a few steps from the recommendations from the tool can significantly improve a mobile site speed, Google cites an example says, “Yard Dog Fence Company, reduced the file sizes of the images on their site and now their mobile site loads in 5 seconds compared to 26 seconds.”
Here is what the tool does:
- The tool will help you find out how fast your mobile site loads.
- It will also estimate how many visitors you may be losing for each additional second it takes a mobile page to load. You will learn number of people may be leaving your site during the time it takes to load.
- The tool will also compare your site to a competition to tell you how your business stacks up against others in your industry.
Additionally, the tool will also suggest actions to make your site faster by detailed specific optimization techniques you can apply to your code and server – “We’ll email you a personalized assessment with specific recommendations on how to speed up your site,” says Google.
It will continue to give you a grade on your desktop and mobile site speed, but now it adds those two additional features.
You can give it a try at Test My Site.
