Version 2.2 releases of Google Contacts app on Android brings in several changes to contacts management, as well as to the look and feel.
Changes to Contact view, now display a larger and more vibrant contact photo, as well as the new ‘action buttons,’ under the photo make it easier to call, text, video chat or email that contact.
Additionally, a Directions button now appear, when at least one street address in contact’s info is available. While, the new Directory card shows things like contact’s job title, work phone number, manager name, and office location.
Changes to Suggestions, will now offer you to add frequently communicated contacts across Google’s products. This appears under “Add people you contact often” summary card.
Merging duplicates becomes easier too, with new “MERGE ALL” button which appear on the duplicates suggestion view, and allows you to accept all duplicates suggestions at once.
Lastly, through a new menu item in the main list screen called “Customized view,” let you customize “Contacts” list view to show just the labels you want.
Hangouts Meet, which was launched earlier this year with a core principle of facilitating quicker and seamless meetings, today, begin rolling out a dedicated dial-in phone number for every Meet to G Suite Enterprise customers allowing them to participate to a rich audio-only experience.
This localized phone number will appear only in newly created meetings, both on calendar listing and in the Meet app.
The dial-in phone numbers will roll out to additional markets in next few days. And, on mobile, based on the current location the number will update. It will change to next best alternative when you are in unsupported market.
Update 10/04: In an update to YouTube for iOS, Google has added a new feature that let users to share videos with iMessage Contacts without leaving the app.
Once tapped on the share button in YouTube app, there is now a new option to share via iMessage. You just need to select iMessage there, and choose a recipient to begin sharing video. The video can be watched in partial view alongside a chat window, or in full view.
Alternatively, videos can also be shared from iMessage app by tapping on the apps icon at the bottom of the screen, then selecting a YouTube video.
Google is soon making it easier for everyone to add to Street View database via a new program called “Street View Ready.”
The Insta360 Pro camera, which is a required hardware to add data to street view, currently retails at $3,999. This mountable camera is capable to captures images in 8K resolution at 5 frames per second. It can be controlled with the Street View app.
