Google Rolls Out Changes to AdSense Policy for All New Sites

Continuing with their initiative to strengthen the quality of its publishers’ digital advertising platform AdSense, Google is introducing improvements to the way publishers monetizes their new sites.

The changes introduced today to AdSense policy will now require publishers to go through a verification process in order to display ads on their new sites.

Going forward each new site will then have to go through a two-part verification process.

New Verification Process

In the first part, publishers who intend to show AdSense ads on a new site will now have to add each new site to their account.

This step is required to prove that they own the domain they wish to place ads or have the ability to modify its content.

Part of the second step involves, Google reviews the site(s) for compliance with its AdSense Program policies.

Once the site is reviewed and approved, Google will be marked the site as “Ready” for publishing AdSense ads.

If a site is not approved by Google, it will be marked as “Needs attention.” This means the site needs some issues to be fixed that prevented the site from being approved.

In addition to the new verification process, the “My Sites” tab will be now renamed to “Sites” and moved toward up the menu so it’s easier to find.

All approved sites ready to monetize would automatically appear in the sites list accessible by clicking the new Sites tab.

Impact on Publishers

According to Google, other than the “My Sites” tab being renamed as “Sites” tab, the majority of publishers will not be affected at all.

Users who end up being affected will most likely be asked by Google to help find the correct ad code when they add a new site.

Those who will be required to help Google will send them an email, as well as a notification, will appear when they sign in to their AdSense account.

Google says users must make sure to have their email address and preferences up to date.
