Google Play store celebrates its first birthday with the limited time giveaways. “It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content,” reads the Google Play store page.
Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, “today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts. Don’t delay in picking up these limited-time offers. It’s been an incredible first year and we look forward to sharing the gift of digital diversions for many more to come,” the page adds.
On offer are 10% discounts on Hotels.com, a $15 gift card, exclusive characters in Yumby Smash and exclusive deals in both Gnome Village and Royal Revolt games.
Update Infographic added: In the past year, the Play store has grown rapidly bringing content in more languages and places around the globe. In addition more than 700,000 apps and games are now available along with the music, movies, TV shows, books and magazines.
Also, available today are Google Play gift cards in Tesco and Morrisons stores in the U.K.
Available in £10, £25 and £50 denominations, the gift cared can be used to purchase apps, music, books, and movies — and they can be redeemed on the Google Play site, or directly on Android device.
Google Play gift cards already available in the US since August 16, 2012 through Target, Walmart, Staples, and RadioShack.
The roll out is happening slowly so they might take a few weeks to reach every location.
