Google Moderator on App Engine

Google has released a new free service called Google Moderator, which’s a port to Google App Engine of an existing tool called “Dory” (after the fish who asked questions all the time in Finding Nemo) used at Google.

What does Google Moderator do? When Google have tech talks or company-wide meetings, it allow anyone attending a tech talk to submit a question, and then give other participants a way to vote on whether or not that question should be asked. This way, the most popular and relevant questions would rise to the top so that the presenter or the moderator of an event could run the discussion more efficiently and in a transparent manner.

You can create your own “series,” which lets people ask and vote on questions. Who knows, maybe we’ll try to find a way to use Google Moderator the next time we do a webmaster chat.

To get started go to moderator.appspot.com and sign in to your Google Account.
