Google Maps is introducing new ways to make it easier people to keep up with local business listings.
Users can now follow businesses in the Google Maps app using a new ‘Follow’ button.
After following a business, when the button is clicked, users will receive all the latest updates from the business in their ‘For You’ tab.
News items such as events, offers, and other updates will appear in the For you tab where ever it’s available now.
These update will help over 150 million places on Maps and millions of people who are looking for places to go, says Google.
This feature is currently only available on Google Maps for Android.

In another update to Maps, Google will soon allow users to connect with new businesses before they officially open.
New businesses will now have the ability to get their business listed via a free Google My Business Profile up to three months prior to their opening date.
New locations opening soon will be indicated with an opening date in orange text.
“… you’ll start seeing profiles for places before they even open on Google Maps for Android and mobile search—just look for the opening date in orange.,” wrote Google.
Businesses interested to get their coming soon locations shown on Google Maps and Google Search can get started by claiming their Google My Business listing here.
This feature is rolling out over the next few weeks.
