Google Maps’ ‘For You’ tab Released to iPhone and Google Lens on iOS

Google Maps’ over the past few years has been getting updates that are positioning it beyond the tradition tool to find directions too much more functionalities helping people in their daily routines.

Once such tool that Google introduced at the I/O in May this year, a new ‘For You’ tab has just received a much wider roll out.

The For You tab, a personalized recommendation and discovery tool will now be available in 40 countries on iOS and in over 130 countries on Android.

Back in May, the tool was initially released on Android devices in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and Japan.

And, Google had promised to make the feature available globally on Android and iOS in the “coming months.”

Starting today, it’s now made available to iOS devices and more countries on Android as well.

The For You tab, which is designed as a personalized recommendations tool to offer news updates for restaurants and other places users have been to or follows in addition to nearby places.

Additionally, For You tab can also be used to make plannings travel.

“Whether you’re staying local or traveling to a new city, let the For You tab be your guide for your next culinary adventure.”

The For You tab is making a more widely launch starting today.

In other related news, Google Lens, a visual search tool is now available on the official iOS app.

With this update, iOS users can simply search for information by tapping the Lens button or icon in the search bar.

The new was shared by Google on its Twitter account.

With the subject in focus, tap the screen once more and the Google app will return information pulled from search results.

This works for objects and text, making it easy to translate text in other languages.
