Google Location-Aware Mobile Display Ads with with Map features for iPhone

Google introduced a new “mobile display ads” which can be geo-targeted for iPhone, Android, and mobile devices with full Internet browsers. “The ad appears as a banner text ad on mobile websites and GDN apps with a business icon that expands to show your business location on a Google map along with your ad creative, click-to-call phone number and option to get directions.”

Advertising with AdWords location extensions on mobile devices is also a great value because you’re only charged for calls or clicks. Google says that mobile ads that offer a location generally see an average 8% increase in click-through rates over plain-vanilla mobile ads, and click-to-call mobile ads see a 6% increase in clicks.

Getting started with location extensions for mobile apps and websites:

  1. Ensure your campaigns are opted into Google Display Network.
  2. Set up location extensions, add your business phone number, address, business logo or icon.
  3. Check that you’ve chosen to show your ads on iPhones and other mobile devices with full Internet browsers.
  4. That’s it!
