Google Japan’s page “Where is Street View“
Google launched Street View in Japan in 2008, and currently has 360-degree images in multiples cities around regions of Tokyo and Osaka. In May of this year the company retook numerous images about 16 inches lower than the original Street View picture height after a stream of privacy-related complaints started arriving. On Sep 4th, Google Japan’s legal representative announced that the company would be putting forth new efforts to fighting malicious secondary-use of images taken on Street View, including improved support for victims. A large number of complaints centered on Google Japan illegally taking and publicly publishing photos where the inside of houses, people’s face, and car license plate numbers could be seen. More recent complaints have been about secondary sites using Google’s photos maliciously, such as for discrimination and bullying, reports.
