Google Extends the AdWords API Update Deadline

AdWords is not only one of the most popular services provided by Google, but it is also a powerful solution that allows you to advertise directly on the Google Search Engine result page, allowing your ads to be displayed for specific keywords entered by the users. The product is quite useful for many companies because the huge number of visitors from the Google Index can be used to increase the popularity of a website. AdWords can also help you include adverts into the AdSense solution, another advertising platform provided by the search giant that allows you to earn money quickly by placing Google ads on your website.

Because AdWords’ popularity is continuously increasing, the company decided to create  AdWords API, a special service that helps developers create their own solutions or applications to control, manage and enhance the advertising platform offered by Google. The solution is based on a huge community of users that are helping each another build their products.

“Using the AdWords API, you can create and manage campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and creatives. You can also generate keyword suggestions, get traffic estimates for predicted impressions, receive clicks and clickthrough rates, and retrieve reports on actual performance. The core messaging technology for the AdWords API is SOAP, which is an XML and HTTP-based protocol with wide support in the industry. The AdWords API uses document/literal style SOAP 1.1. To access AdWords accounts programmatically, you build web service clients that use the AdWords API. Typically your web service client program would use a toolkit that knows how to connect to and interact with web services,” Google describes the service.

Because AdWords API is more and more popular, the company improved it several times with new versions of software solutions, imposing an update deadline to allow users to improve their applications until the company will block older versions of the service. Today, Jon Diorio, Product Manager, posted a message on the official blog of the company to announce that the AdWords API update deadline was extended to Friday, February 2, 2007.

“We have extended the V5 shutdown deadline to Friday, February 2, 2007. Therefore, please make sure you have migrated your applications to Version 6, 7 or 8 by February 2,” the Google employee sustained in the blog post.
