Google Earth is probably one of the most used products ever designed by Google because it helps you view maps and other images captured from the satellites directly from your desktop. It is distributed as a downloadable application available for free so you can use it without a Google account or password. The product was updated several times but the latest one seems to be the most important: the company added interoperability with Google SketchUp, a special utility that helps users design and add 3D models of buildings, streets, cities and even countries in Google Earth.
At this time, the downloadable application provided by Google is used in the entire world, representing one of the main utilities used by researchers to discover volcano activities. The program was also used by terrorists to organize attacks against UK troops located in Basra.
Because the application is so popular and important for certain organizations, the search giant tried to improve it periodically to enhance the power of the users over the features provided by Google Earth. It seems like Google updated the program again although its employees didn’t make any official announcement. Brad Geddes published an article on his page, sustaining he identified some Local Business Ads into Google Earth when searching for certain businesses.
