The Google Checkout badges will disappear from e-tailers’ AdWords ads, according to a post in Checkout Help. However, they’ll continue to be displayed in product search.
“Please be aware that as of June 2011, the Google Checkout badge has been removed from AdWords ads. This change impacts badges that appear on google.com and google.co.uk search results. This includes the standard and promotional Checkout badge for both merchants and non-profits.
Badges and filtering on Google Product Search results are not impacted by this change. Learn more about displaying badges on Product Search results.”
Checkout icons in AdWords were originally introduced in 2006 and a new badge design was rolled out in 2007.
As for the elimination of the badges… “We’re making this change to improve the user experience on Google search results pages,” an e-mail sent by Google reportedly said, according to eCommerceCircle.
