Google begin restricting “cougar” dating sites, matching older women with younger men, showing up in Google search. “Google has recently deemed those dating sites “nonfamily safe,” and therefore its ads for such sites containing the word “cougar” willn’t be allowed on its content pages,” told the CougarLife.com to NYT…that its advertisements have been removed from Google Content Network. Claudia Opdenkelder, founder of CougarLife, said the campaign, cost $100,000 USD a month, its ads will no longer appear on more than 6,700 Web sites, including Ask.com, YouTube and MySpace, which generated referrals that accounted for almost 60% of its traffic.
MRS. ROBINSON, ARE YOU…Anne Bancroft played the original cougar in “The Graduate.” Dustin Hoffman was the cub.
Google continues to allow similar advertising for sites that match older men and younger women, like DateAMillionaire.com, which assures its clients they can meet “sugar babies.” Blurbs and “sponsored links,” which typically pop up on right side of the screen, for dating sites like CougarLife and other “nonfamily” sites (one screams “Date a hot cheating wife!”) will still appear along with list of search results.
