Auto ads, a powerful new way that uses machine learning (ML) and helps AdSense publishers in making smart ad placement and monetization decisions on their behalf as well as save their time is launched on Tuesday to publishers across the world.
With the new AdSense Auto ads, all just required is placing a code on pages and then the rest all is taken care by Google.
To get started, just sign in to your AdSense account, then in the left navigation panel, visit “My ads” and select “Get Started”. Next, from the “Choose your global settings” page, select the ad formats and click Save. Then, on the next page, click “Copy code”. Finally, paste the ad code between the < head > and </ head > tags of each page to show Auto ads.
That’s it. Auto ads will now begin analyzing all pages where the code is placed to find “potential ad placements”, once it finishes, the ads will start appearing where they’re likely to perform well and also providing users a good experience, explains google.

So, What if you already have AdSense ads running on your pages?
Google expalins, publishers need not to worry about the existing ads, as Auto ads will automatically take into account all of these Google ads on pages.
Furthermore, Auto ads comes included with Anchor and Vignette ads as well as additional formats, such as “Text and display, In-feed, and Matched content.”
That said, users those uses Page-level ads are now automatically migrated over to Auto ads without any need to add code to their pages again, google said.
However, publishers can still have different ad formats on different pages by using the new “Advanced URL” settings feature. For exampl, a publisher can choose to place In-feed ads on exampleurl.com/games, but not on exampleurl.com/sports.
Benefits of Auto ads from Google:

- Easy to use: With Auto ads you only need to place the ad code on your pages once. When you’re ready to use new features and ad formats, simply turn them on and off with the flick of a switch — there’s no need to change the code again.
Update 03/03: Google today, enabled advertisers to get deeper insights at the keyword and ad level with custom column into the business metrics that matter them most. For example, you can now create a custom column for mobile clickthrough rate (CTR) to see how engaging your ads are on mobile.
Or, you can now see all keywords which are converting best on mobile by creating a custom column for mobile conversion rate.
Why use custom columns?
Custom columns offer a convenient solution if you’re interested in seeing only part of the data for a metric. Custom columns also allow you to make your own metric based on existing metrics in AdWords. Here’s an example: Matthew’s business uses a metric called “Mobile share of clicks,” which is defined as mobile clicks divided by total clicks. There’s no column for this in the Campaigns page, so Matthew decides to create his own custom column:
Do you wish your columns only displayed a specific portion of your data? For example, instead of “CTR” (clickthrough rate), would you prefer to have “desktop CTR” and “mobile CTR”? You can tailor custom columns to display specific views of your data, so you can quickly see the information that is most important to you.
