Google “Auto-Pilot” Car Busted While Breaks Traffic Law

Although California bans “hand-held” cell phone use by drivers, and testers of Google self-driving vehicles are legally considered to be “drivers,” one Google engineer is still illegally and dangerously reaching out to touch somebody.

Google Street View Prius Busted

What actually happened, is the “driver” got a ticket for talking on a cell phone, near Google HQ in Mountain View, California, which’s against the law in California while driving without a hands-free unit (per CA vehicle code section 23123).

There was no actual violation by the car itself. The guy behind the wheel thought he got a pass and so was chatting away when “Johnny Law” pulled the car over.
