Google adds WebM/VP8 support to latest Dev build of Chrome for Mac, Linux, and Windows

Google unveiled the WebM project at Google I/O; Google sure added VP8/WebM support to Chromium, the open-source browser behind Chrome, but that’s used by a small fraction of people who use Chrome itself. Begining today, Google is finally joining Firefox and Opera with WebM support in Chrome itself. “Google added WebM and VP8 video codec to the dev channel of Chrome across Windows, Mac, and Linux. While it’s not yet in the beta or stable builds of the browser, it’ll probably be added there very soon,” noted Google.
