Gmail Offline App for Chrome Now Lets You Choose Synchronize No of Days – New Delete Option Added to Google Sync for iOS Devices

Gmail offline Chrome app, today, received some key updates that has been released to the Chrome Web Store app.

The first update is the addition of a settings page (look for the new settings icon). You can now choose whether you want to synchronize 7, 14 or 31 days worth of mail. So the next time you get on an airplane, you can sit back and tackle up to 31 days of mail all while offline, informs Gmail team.

If you’re already using Gmail offline, you’ll see these improvements the next time you open the app.

In addition to the above, the team also made following updates to Gmail offline:

  • Improved attachments: All attachments are now downloaded and available for offline use
  • Keyboard shortcuts support: If you have keyboard shortcuts enabled in Gmail, your setting will transfer over to the Gmail offline app. If you’re not sure what you can do with keyboard shortcuts, try pressing “?” next time you’re using Gmail or Gmail offline.
  • Numerous performance enhancements: Messages and attachments now download at a faster rate and some bugs have been fixed.

For those not aware, “Gmail Offline beta is a Gmail app built to support offline access, allowing mail to be read, responded to, searched and archived without network access. After first start-up, Gmail Offline will automatically synchronize messages and queued actions anytime Chrome is running and an Internet connection is available. More than just an offline app, the streamlined user interface, based off Gmail’s popular tablet interface, provides extremely fast response time with a pure, email focused experience.”

To start Offline Gmail after installing the Gmail offline app from the Chrome Web Store, open a new tab in Chrome. In the new tab pane you will see a Gmail Offline Icon. Click on the icon, and Offline Gmail will load.

Also, Google added a new option to Google Sync for iOS “Delete Email As Trash.” When enabled “Delete Email As Trash” for this device, pressing Delete in your iOS Mail app will delete that email from your device and send it to your Gmail Trash.

The new feature is applicable to Google Apps for Business, Government and Education.
