GIGABYTE Touch-Screen and Evermax’s Everex PC2512 gPC Netbook running new ‘Cloud OS’

Good OS, makers of gOS Linux that debuted in Wal-Mart computers, announcedCloud,” a new operating system that boots into a browser with Google, Yahoo! and Live in seconds, and optionally boots into Windows. Cloud features a beautifully designed browser with an icon dock for shortcuts to favorite apps, tabs for multi-tasking between web and rich client apps, and icons to switch to Windows, power off, and perform other necessary system functions. Users power on their computers, quickly boot into Cloud for Internet and basic applications, and then just power off or boot into Windows for more powerful desktop applications.

Good OS will preview Cloud on a GIGABYTE Touch-Screen Netbook at the Netbook World Summit and online at http://www.thinkgos.com. GIGABYTE Touch-Screen Netbooks will be preloaded with Cloud and Windows XP together early next year.

The most recent version of a Good-enabled desktop PC, Evermax’s Everex PC2512 gPC, is bundled with the Linux-based OpenOffice.org productivity suite, the Skype voice over IP (VoIP) application, the RhythmBox music management app, the Xing audio player, and GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program).

The PC also provides direct links to Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Google Product Search, Blogger, YouTube, and Google Maps.

For under $200, the Linux-based desktop machine provides a 1.5 GHz Via C7-D processor, an 80 GB hard drive, 512 MB RAM, a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, and stereo speakers. The memory is upgradeable to 2 GB. No monitor is included, however.
