The latest updates to GBoard give a bunch of new features to Android users that include access to emoji and GIF suggestions while they type and the ability to share GIFs in supported apps including Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Hangouts and Allo.
GBoard, which is Google’s keyboard for Android also today include improved voice typing, more keyboard themes as well as search features from right-to-left languages.
There is also a new Google Translate option that lets users click a Translate icon from the features menu to translate instantly whatever they are typing. “Now for the first time in right-to-left languages (think Arabic, Hebrew and Farsi), you can tap on the arrow or the G in the suggestion strip and get access to new search features, including web, GIF and emoji,” writes product manager.
Highlights of the new features include:
- Now as you type, emojis and GIF searches appear in the suggestion strip to help express yourself. Switching back to regular typing from voice mode is now easier than ever.
- liven up keyboard with new scenic views as backdrop—just go to Gboard settings and select theme or press on the Theme icon in the quick features menu in the suggestion strip. Google says, they would now more often offer more new themes.
- just click on the Translate icon within the quick feature menu to jumpstart Google Translate in the keyboard, for instantly translating words and phrases as you type.
