Foursquare announced the web version of Explore at foursquare.com/explore, that feature, better keyword search and several new filters that enable users to drill down in search results.
“Explore is powered by check-ins and foursquare Tips, it’s not just personalized, it’s specific. Search for ‘pool table,’ or ‘guacamole’; ‘deep dish,’ or ‘thin crust.’ Because not all bars, Mexican restaurants, or pizza joints are created equal, and we want to make sure you find what you’re craving,” said the company.
In short Foursquare is a local search engine, that helps you search for personalized recommendations in the real world and more.
You’ll now see an Explore button or tab in the upper right on the website.
Foursquare says that its 1,500,000,000 strong foursquare community, tens of millions of Tips, and over half million Lists help the company personalize recommendations for you.
With the following four filters available in Explorer, users can see only those particular results.
- “I haven’t been to yet”
- “I have been to before”
- “My friends have been to”
- “Have Foursquare specials”
