Foursquare Check-In From Space – NASA Astronaut Used Foursquare from Space

Expedition 25 Commander Douglas H. Wheelock checked-in from the International Space Station using Foursquare and unlocked the new NASA Explorer Badge, along with the following congratulatory message:

“You are now 220 miles above Earth traveling at 17,500 mph and unlocked the NASA Explorer Badge! Show this badge and get a free scoop of astronaut ice cream.”

Foursquare now features a special NASA website, that allow explorers on earth who visit space-related places can also unlock the badge while learning about NASA history and the space program.

When Expedition 26 docks later this year, Commander Scott Kelly at ISS, will be competing for perhaps the most elusive mayorship on foursquare.

This nifty video was created by JESS3, which also helped make the Foursquare/NASA partnership a reality.
