Facebook Top Search Term & Most Visited Wbsite in 2010, Hitwise – Year End Top Searches ‘Kim Kardashian, Oprah’ and More!

Facebook passed Google as the most-visited website in the US in 2010, according to a new year report from Experian Hitwise. “This’s the second year that the social networking website has been the top search term overall, accounting for 2.11% of all searches. Four variations of the term facebook: Facebook, Facebook login, facebook.com, and www.facebook.com were among the top 10 terms and accounted for 3.48% of searches overall.”

Facebook was the top-visited Website and accounted 8.93% of all U.S. visits between Jan-Nov’2010. Google.com ranked second with 7.19%, followed by Yahoo! Mail 3.52%, Yahoo! 3.30% and YouTube 2.65%. The combination of Google properties accounted 9.85%.

Experian Hitwise says terms related to social networking accounted for 4.18% of the top 50 searches.
