Nearby in the Facebook for iOS and Android apps released today make it easy to discover new places your friends like.
Facebook with time results will get better as the more people use Nearby, and promises to improve it based on “users feedback.” Also, Facebook says that in the near future, they will add places info from third party services.
To find new places, launch the app, and from the app menu, “open the tab to find local spots your friends have recommended, checked into, or liked,” informs Facebook. When you find a place that looks interesting, tap to see info like friends who’ve been there and business hours.
You can also choose a category to look what’s nearby for the specific place.
In addition to discovering new places to visit, the update also now let you share “by rating or recommending places” to your friends. Your own suggestions become more personalized the more you and your friends rate, recommend, and check into places.
This update is now available for iPhone on iTunes App Store, and for Android on Google Play.
