Facebook is launching a new interactive video format calling it ‘Premieres,’ that offers publishers and video creators a new way to engage audiences and ignite live conversation between viewers through video.
In addition to Premieres, the company is releasing new interactive video polls along with Top Fans.
Top Fans product is now available to all eligible Pages, “globally.”

The feature lets creators and publishers release a pre-recorded video as a live moment.
Premieres to All Pages
The feature available now globally comes with all the perks that come with streaming a live video and let video creators and publishers début a pre-recorded video as a “live” moment to appear on Pages and in News Feed.
In addition, Premieres can also be distributed in Facebook Watch, which means more people discovering a video.
Premieres creators and publishers can take advantage of features that are available for recorded video, including monetization tools like “ad breaks” and “branded content.”
Creators can create and upload Premiere using the video uploading tool they already use. While creating a Premiere, take a note of video requirements:
- Premiere videos should be at least 30 seconds long MP4, and no longer than 10 GB
- Video must support a maximum resolution of 1080p, and 30 frames per second.
A Premiere can be scheduled for up to a week in advance. It should at least be done 10 minutes in advance.
When scheduled, a new post will get create and let know Page audience about the upcoming video along with a place to point viewers to “express [their] interest, interact with each other, ask an event reminder, and share” before the video premieres.
At the time of début, the post will seamlessly turn into the Premiere. When a Premiere ends it will then turn into a regular “on-demand video ”
Scheduling a Premiere is a seven steps process:
- Click “Share photo or video” on the show Page for a Premiere to broadcast from
- Click “Upload Photos/Video”
- Select the video to Premiere
- Click “Publish”
- Select “Premiere”
- Fill out the fields for “Premiere start time”
- Click “Schedule Premiere”

Video Polls on More Pages
Facebook also made Video polls now available on more Pages, as well as Live polls, which is now available to all Pages through the Live API along with publishing tool.
The company notes that soon it will allow adding polls to on demand video.

Top Fans Expands Globally
Top Fans, highlights a creator’s loyal fans with a badge displayed next to their name. The feature is now available to all eligible Pages across the globe.
The Top Fan badge appear only after a fan watch Page’s videos, reacts, or share content or make a comment on any post or video, including Premiere.
A Page with over 10K followers and using a video template is eligible to activate Top Fans by opting into Top Fans badges from a Page settings.

Ending the announcement, Facebook says it will explore more ways to expand these features. Also, it look to tie these “types of tools” together to create interactive video experiences for building a unique community on Facebook.
