Apple during the Super Bowl launched a new product for App Store developers – offering vanity URLs via “AppStore.com” domain. The new URLs for example are now pointing viewers to Appstore.com/StarTrekApp.
Also, Apple’s recently announced 128GB iPad update to its fourth-generation retina display tablet. The new iPad sports a 9.7-inch retina display, A6X chip, FaceTime HD camera, and currently has over 800,000 apps available on the App Store, “including more than 300,000 apps designed specifically for iPad.”
In other releated news, iOS 6.1 which was released just last week, now has a jailbreak called “evasi0n” from the team of Evad3rs for all current iOS 6.1 devices “except the third generation Apple TV.”
Additional updates in iOS 6.1 include the ability to use Siri to purchase movie tickets in the US through Fandango, and iTunes Match subscribers can download individual songs to their iOS devices from iCloud. iOS 6.1 is compatible with iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad (third and fourth generation), iPad mini, iPad 2 and iPod touch (fourth and fifth generation).
“The tool is available for Mac OS X (10.5 or higher) Windows XP or newer, and Linux from the evasi0n website completely free of charge,” the team stated. “The “untethered” status means you can safely reboot your device without having to worry about losing your jailbreak or any of the built-in features, as opposed to a “tethered” jailbreak that requires you to plug your device into a computer and re-run the jailbreaking app anytime you reboot it,” the team added.
The new “evasi0n” jailbreak is compatible and works on all versions of iOS 6.0+, and support the following devices through iOS 6.0 – 6.1:
iPod touch 5
iPod touch 4
Apple TV 2 (NOT third-gen)
