Google is sharing several new innvoations designed to help gaming developers to grow their fan base and earn more revenue from gaming apps. Here is what’s coming:
New Video Ads on Google Play
Over the next few months, a new beta “Video ads” will enable developers showcase their game as the users tap, swipe and scroll to find their next favorite app on Google Play.
Google notes, it has already delivered 10 billion plus app installs for developers through Universal App campaigns (UAC) ads that leverages its machine learning technology to find loyal fans across Google.com, Google Play, YouTube, and over 3 million sites and apps in the Google Display Network.
Find Player with Similar Audiences
Another new feature coming to UAC is called “similar audiences” that will developers unlock new audiences by connecting them to people with similar interests—for example a mobile game developer can share its data with Google to find more players who like those playing their current game.
Similar audiences will be available to select advertisers starting in May in beta.
AdMob Rewarded Video Ads
Rewarded ads offer players incentives, like an extra life or a special power-up in the game when they need it most, today introducing two new rewarded ad experiencess: “playable ads” and “multiple-option video ads”.
The screenshot above shows an example of Rewarded video ad format.
These formats will help monetize games while ensuring players can interact with ads without interrupting their game play. Both of the two formats will become available to AdMob developers over next few months.
Advertisers can deliver 6 to 60 seconds rewarded video ads in portrait and landscape modes.
Open Bidding on AdMob
Another feature in beta that aims to take digital monetization to the next level — “Open Bidding” will let networks bid to serve ads in their app simultaneously in a single unified auction.
Bids from Smaato, Index Exchange and OpenX are already leveraging the power of Open Bidding.
Benefits of Open Bidding, include: fewer SDKs need to implement, simplified payments, meaningful insights from integrated reports in a single performance dashboard.
