A brand new Driver title, the first from Ubisoft since the publisher bought the series from Atari last year, has been confirmed, with Driver 76 bound for the PSP handheld. Sumo Digital and Reflections will develop the new handheld title, with the story kicking-off before Driver: Parallel Lines, in 1976.
As with Driver titles of old, Driver 76 promises a mix of driving and on foot missions, with in-game success rewarded financially allowing you to upgrade your car. The new title will also feature ‘side missions’, encouraging you to earn a bit more lolly in return for challenges extraneous to the main plot.
Multiplayer looks likely to play an important part, with Destruction Derby, Street Racing, Pink Slip Racing and Swap Meet modes promised for those with ‘gaming friends’. We’re also told you’ll be able to download new paintjobs for the game. 1970s New York is the theme, and a March release is on the cards.
