DontEa with foursquare API Warn People when they Check-in at Eatable Places that have Violations

Max Stoller created “DontEat.at,” a service which merges health code records with the foursquare API to warn people — via text message — when they check into restaurants with less than stellar cleanliness records.

“Using the foursquare API and the city’s Health Department inspection results, Max was able to create a simple but valuable service for New Yorkers (with more cities coming soon!), and even took home an Honorable Mention award at the 2nd annual Big Apps competition.” “The BigApps competition was created by the City of New York to encourage the software developer community to create mobile and web applications using public government data.”

“It was great to see so many developers utilizing our API to add location to their apps,” stated foursquare.
