Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 required to support Windows 7 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Microsoft says that running Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in a ConfigMgr environment requires SP2, currently in Release Candidate status, due for October end release. “As standard procedure, we do testing for supportability of products in a number of scenarios, including market products. Last week, KB Article 974236 entitled “Update rollup for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 to add support for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients” was released. This’ll hopefully allow organizations some flexibility in upgrading to SP2, while being able to prioritize there interest in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Please refer to this KB for complete details of the rollup contents,” explained Jeff Wettlaufer.
