City of Frisco, Texas deploys Hyper-V and NetApp

City of Frisco, Texax is one of fastest growing in America and a prime example of why many companies’re moving toward virtualization and some of resulting benefits. About a year ago Tim and his team were faced with data growth of 200-300% year and a siloed IT infrastructure that was increasingly challenging and time-consuming to maintain. IT team decided to leverage their existing NetApp storage infrastructure and consolidate their server environment using Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, and the results have been impressive: over past 12 months the city has cut capex 54% and replaced 40 physical servers with 4, resulting in a substantial power and cooling savings. Tim will be talking live about his environment and R2 upgrade next week during a webcast “Virtualize with Microsoft and NetApp: Consolidate and Increase Uptime with Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and NetApp,” revealed Friea Berg of NetApp.
