Chinese authorities renews Google’s ICP License to operate In China

Google posted an update to their blog post “An update on China” ….now saying that “the Chinese government has renewed their ICP licenses to operate in China….and we look forward to continuing to provide web search and local products to our users in China.”

When Google “stopped censoring” their search results, Google started redirecting users automatically to Google Hong Kong. But, the Chinese officials found the redirect unacceptable, so Google created a landing page on Google.cn, which appears to be a search box, but when clicked on, takes you to Google Hong Kong. And that seemed to do the trick for getting Google ICP license.

Google was afraid and said in the post that “without an ICP license, we cann’t operate a commercial website like Google.cn—so Google would effectively go dark in China.”

Well, there’s a saying “All’s Well That Ends Well”.
