According to latest Experian Hitwise, U.S. search market report, Google accounted 66.05% of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending July 30, 2011.
And, the combined Bing-powered search comprised 28.05%, with Yahoo! Search and Bing receiving 14.49% and 13.19%, respectively. Remaining 73 search engines accounted 5.90% of U.S. searches, Hitwise reports.
Hitwise reports that “Yahoo! Search and Bing achieved the highest success rates in July 2011. This means that for Yahoo! Search, more than 81.36% of searches executed resulted in a visit to a Website. Google achieved 68%, an increase of 1%.”
Longer search queries — those averaging five to eight words or more — increased 3% from June 2011 to July 2011. One-word searches comprised the majority of searches, amounting to 25.32 percent of all queries. Shorter search queries — one to four words — decreased 1 percent from June 2011 to July 2011.
