As of January 27, Bing is out of beta phase in Germany, and is now available at Bing.de. In a press release, Microsoft Germany writes, “After more than two years of testing, the core technology of the German Bing search engine is now finished. Numerous improvements and new technologies serve as the basis for future innovations.”
The release note also revealed that Bing now has 10 million users or 20 percent of active internet users in Germany:
“The steadily rising number of searches confirm the success of the search engine. Almost 10 million German Bing already use regularly in the month. This represents 20 percent of the active German Internet users,” Microsoft Germany states.
“We have invested heavily in Bing, extensively tested, introduced new features and partner content integrated and created with a local team a very good infrastructure and relevance to the search engine in the future to serve the German market based on these core technology across devices and platforms,” said Dorothee Ritz, General Manager, Advertising & Online at Microsoft Germany.
Bing This technology is now used in the Microsoft cloud services such as Hotmail, SkyDrive and Office 365 and the global search alliance between Microsoft and Yahoo!. This was created by the aggregation of millions of user queries and clicks the billions of base to improve the search algorithm of Bing continuously.
The combined Bing-Yahoo “search alliance” share in the US is about 30 percent. However the search alliance has considerably less reach in Europe. While the organic-results merger was completed last year, Microsoft adCenter is just now rolling out in Europe.
