Bing Ads has now added a new requirement for those who are dealing in addiction recovery services.
With today’s update, all the advertisers in the addiction recovery space are now required to obtain a LegitScript certification from Bing Ads.
“Drug and alcohol addiction are serious and sensitive topics, especially for those affected by the addiction either directly, or indirectly,” wrote Bing Ads.
To ensure a “safe and engaging” experience to users searching for addiction recovery assistance, the evaluation of policies revealed the need of this policy update.
Hence, all drug and alcohol addiction recovery centres are now required to be certified by LegitScript before they are allowed to run an ad campaign on Bing Ads Network sites.
In addition to requiring certification, lead generators will also no longer allowed for drug and alcohol addiction recovery services.
This certification requirement will protect users from being misled or taken advantage of during such a sensitive time of suffering through addiction, says Bing Ads.
“We have made the decision to require LegitScript certification for all advertisers in the drug and alcohol addiction recovery space,” Bing Ads announced.
Adding, “We will also no longer allow lead generators for these services.”
The new policy will come into effect in the U.S. mid-of-March.
The updated policy will be published and implement to all pharmacy and health care products and services.
