Bing has launched some new “intelligent search” features to help users around the world that aims to save time and help in making better decisions around hotel search and booking, home services price ranges, and coupon and deal snippets in search results.
Bing said it hopes these features let searchers save money and make better decisions when booking a hotel, hiring a contractor for their home or finding good deals online.
Bing said, these features are designed to allow you to estimate and compare prices across multiple providers, give you insights to make the right trade-offs around price, and get more savings on products through a new deals experience – all built to help you save money.
Here is a rundown of these new features:
A hote booking experience which aggregate pricing from third party booking sites since May, now has received more functionalities, including intelligent tips, a price trends view, and a comparison view.
While looking for a hotel on Bing now give users options to search for a specific hotel by data and see the prices across several booking sites along with hotel photos , class and other booking tips. “[B]ooking tips are displayed when looking at hotels for which there are competing options you may not have considered,” stated Bing.

Additionally, historical price trends for date range you’re exploring to help make price-based trade-offs. Plus, a new comparison view that provides a comprehensive overview of pricing by hotel option. You can see how comparison view look in the screen shot below:
Since, it shows hotels details in a grid with their price, ratings, class level, amenities and more, users can easily make the best choice.
Home Services Pricing And Scheduling
People are often frustrated when it comes to choosing a home service provider, Bing can help with that too as they’ve begun to show “cost ranges to provide transparency for home services, like [sink installation costs] and [toilet repairs].” This price data comes from Porch, a home service providerr portal.

Then after a view of expected cost, Bing will help in getting pricing quotes from multiple local providers using Yelp. For example, “a search for “plumbers Bellevue” will get you a listing of plumbers in the area with a ‘Get Quote’ for supported providers button. Clicking on the button will take you to a pre-populated form on Yelp, where you can select up to 10 similar providers and send out a bulk request for quotes instead of having to contact each provider individually,” bing explained.

Coupons And Deals
Lastly, a new snippet feature that shows deals on a site right in the search results is launched, too. The deals are first “aggregated across first- and third-party listings” and then displayed when a search for retailers or coupons is conducted.
Bing notes, it only surfacec relevant insights, like ‘expiring soon,’ whether the offers are online or in-store only, and more.”

All of these features are live in the US, and are currently available on desktop only except the “home services price ranges.” Bing said, it plans to roll out these features to mobile platforms and in international markets in coming months.
Bing on July 10 added another new intelligent search feature that bring “coding answers” to search results page as it begin to provide “exact snippets of code for developers’ queries.” And, for more context, just use the link below the code sample, which will take you directly to the corresponding article.
“Code Sample Answer” as Bing calls the feature is now live and can be triggered in action with a query, like [convert case using a function in R]. Once executed “….[W]e are sure you will appreciate how the code snippet is extracted for you from the article and surfaced right in the results in the requested programming language,” Bing said,
The above query will return a search result like the one below:
Code Sample Answer support “is not limited to the Microsoft family programming languages,” said Bing, adding, “It also covers other tools used by developers.” For example, a Code Sample Answer can be triggered when searching for git commands and their syntax.
A Code Sample Answer will trigger only when Bing intelligently detects the coding intent with high confidence.
“To achieve this level of precision for query intent detection Bing’s natural language processing pipelines for developers leverages patterns found in training data from developer queries collected over the years containing commonly used terms and text structure typical for coding queries. The system also leverages a multitude of click signals to improve the precision even further.”
Bing says, it’ll enhance the coverage of Code Sample Answer and overall developer help experience as it receives more signals from web searches and feedback from developers.
Bing is also currently testing a new fucntionality on its search pages that will open search results in a new window.
The features called “open in new window” will appear as an icon in the search results. The alternative text on the icon reads “Click here to open in a new tab.” When a user clicks on it, the result opens up in a new tab.
