SCI-Eidos were clearly pleased with the reception Battlestations: Midway received from critics and gamers, having sort-of confirmed that a second game is already being planned. “After the period end, in February 2007, we released Battlestations Midway on PC and Xbox 360. This product immediately entered the UK charts at No1 in both the Xbox 360 and All Formats charts,” reads the publisher’s latest financial announcement. “We are continuing to build this franchise and have a sequel in development.”
A 2008 release is predicted in some reports surrounding this news, though Eidos haven’t confirmed dating or platforms as yet. That said, PC and Xbox 360 releases are pretty much a given, while the PS3 could also be an option.
The latest statement reiterated what the developer have already revealed, namely that Just Cause 2 is on the way. Eidos also hit the headlines in the last couple of weeks announcing an online distribution deal with Steam that also covers some of the publisher’s latest titles. It is unclear whether new titles will also hit Steam, but it seems likely at this point.
Battlestations saw the player controlling allied and Japanese forces in the WII-blighted Pacific, blending strategy and action using submarines, ships and planes.
