Automatic “Rotation & Multi-Orientation” Layout support for Windows Phone 7 apps

This post focus on one part of the first Windows Phone 7 application that built-in support for both landscape and portrait views in WP7 Silverlight (SL) apps. The app in question is a simple Twitter Search application for Windows Phone 7. The end results looks like (see pic), where you can see a search box, a button, a list of tweets, and for each tweet its user avatar. “Implementing this app is simple. All you need is use a WebClient to invoke a REST Web request to Twitter Search API with the search query that user has typed. Remember that WebClient supports ASync programming model, so When the results return, you need to parse the return XAML (ATOM feed) using LINQ to XML, and bind output to ListBox. Of course you’ll need to define a data template in order to display content properly.” You can download code, but you’ll be better off reading entire “Building Your First Windows Phone 7 Application” chapter that provides step-by-step instructions for how to build this Twitter Search app, including more detailed explanation of code in this post.
