Gartner today released a preliminary report detailing U.S. and worldwide PC shipments for the Q3’10, reporting a 7.6% increase in worldwide PC shipments, compared with its expectations of 12.7%. It has Apple at No. 4 in the U.S., just behind Acer.
In a releated note, IDC notes that “Worldwide personal computer shipments increased by 11% in Q3, but that was about 3%age points below expectations.”
Apple bucked the trend with 24% growth in shipments in U.S., edging its way past Acer to become No. 3 vendor of personal computers in the country, shipping just under 2 million units and accounting for 10.6% of U.S. market.
Overall worldwide PC shipments came in at 89.7 million, up from 80.8 million in the same quarter last year. HP led the worldwide market with 17.6%, followed by Acer at 13% and Dell at 12.4%.
