App-V Self Support Tool for user friendly Helpdesks

When you deploy App-V applications on laptops and pc’s, expect a lot of helpdesk calls. Because, when actual users start working with App-V, sometimes they manually need to reset, preload and refresh their virtualized apps. As a result, you’ll need to give users access to App-V client MMC plug-in, which’s typically off-limits for normal users in enterprise because of security policies on desktops and laptops. To address this issue, “Login Consultants created a light-weight, super user friendly tool which doesn’t require MMC access, dubbed “App-V Self Support Tool” – consists of a single .exe and a XML config file. Just copy these to PC/Laptops and make sure user can access the tool through a shortcut on desktop or start menu. You can change banner to your liking and languages can expanded easily by expanded the XML file. Interface is deliberately simplified, so users can find their way around with few options: View, Language, Repair, Cache, Start and Refresh. Users don’t need anything more, and more importantly, they’re not required to ask helpdesk to support them,” writes Justin.
