Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) Test Build running in the Wild? – Screenshot

While the world is awaiting an update to version 2.2 of Google’s mobile operating system, folks at Phandroid have discovered evidence of “Android 3.0 (codenamed Gingerbread) running on a Nexus One”. At this point only people who should have any true build of Android 3.0 running on their device would be Google’s Android engineers, so the validity of the image comes into question.

GreenComputing also found evidence of Android 3.0, 3.0.1, and 3.2 running their popular benchmark software, Linpack for Android: “Android 2.2 (FroYo) took Linpack lead for most runs this last week. According to my analytics, Android 2.2 was used 43.1% of time. Android 2.1-update1, previous leader was used 39.8% of time. So what was used for rest of 17% of time? How about 158 other ROMs! That’s a lot of variety to choose.

Mixed in with the lot is some curious ROMs; Android 3.0, Android 3.0.1 and Android 3.2″
