AMD Radeon HD 2900 GT

Earlier this week, we saw some pretty clear evidence that AMD is prepping a cheaper variant of its Radeon HD 2900 XT dubbed the Radeon HD 2900 Pro. Evidence included listings on European retailers and even a product page on the site of AMD graphics partner HIS.

That’s not all, though. According to The Inquirer, AMD has yet another mid-range, R600-based card up its sleeve: the Radeon HD 2900 GT. The Inq has a box shot of a Sapphire version of the card, which apparently packs 256MB of memory and is based on the same design as the Radeon HD 2900 XT. Since HIS’s page suggests the 2900 Pro will have a 600MHz core clock speed, 320 stream processors, and 512MB of 800MHz GDDR3 RAM running off a 512-bit memory bus, the 2900 GT’s specs probably lie somewhere south of that.

Speaking of the 2900 Pro, another AMD partner has taken the wraps off its version of the card. This time, the firm’s name is GeCube, which has posted a press release announcing the card’s launch. No release date is listed, though, and we can’t find the card either on Newegg or our price search engine.
