Amazon Introduces ‘DynamoDB’ Fully Managed NoSQL Database to AWS

Amazon DynamoDBAmazon Web Services (AWS) added a new cloud computing service to its suite, a distributed database called “Amazon DynamoDB.”

“DynamoDB is a ‘fully managed NoSQL database’ service that provides extremely fast and predictable performance with seamless scalability. With DynamoDB web applications can spike suddenly in demand or grow so big that they tax traditional databases, or even clusters of traditional databases, which are hard to maintain, especially for smaller companies.

It enables customers to offload the administrative burdens of operating and scaling distributed databases so they don’t have to worry about hardware provisioning, configuration, replication, software patching, partitioning, or cluster scaling.

Amazon takes care of all the provisioning and management of the database. The whole service takes advantage of solid-state drives, greatly speeding up the transfer of data from the database (which is often a bottleneck),” Amazon revealed.
