AJAX.org And Javeline Goes Live

Today Javeline unveils the open source release of PlatForm which brings declarative development to the Ajax world. Javeline PlatForm is an extendible open source Ajax application platform to create flexible, maintainable applications that run on virtually any browser on any device and operating system. The tutorial site ajax.org provides a quick set of tutorials familiarizing the concepts and Ajax related technologies within PlatForm.

Press release: ALMERE, The Netherlands – 16 July 2007 – Javeline BV today announced the open source release of Javeline® PlatForm™ and the tutorial site www.ajax.org. The PlatForm SDK includes the source code and many examples, utilities and documents to get started right away building advanced Ajax applications. By utilizing Javeline PlatForm, internet applications can be set up quickly, creating responsive, interactive and user-friendly interfaces.

“Javeline PlatForm is a declarative application development platform. This means that developers can forget about the question of ‘how to implement the application’ they can focus on their goals and write down ‘what they want to achieve’. Specifically the SmartBindings technology removes a lot of repetitive work in connecting the application to datasets, maintaining data synchronicity with the server and automating drag&drop.” says Ruben Daniels, lead developer of PlatForm. “It gets you as a developer in a completely different mindset, soon you’ll forget about iterating data or hooking events to sync your data. Because of the strict model PlatForm even has native support for undo/redo which makes setting up workflow a breeze.”

This release of Javeline PlatForm provides the ability to create fully skinnable applications in a way that is native to designers and htmlers. No technical knowledge about the application is required. Futhermore, for those difficult multilingual projects, PlatForm has the ability to generate language files from an Ajax application at any point during or after the development, virtually solving the multilingual problem.

Together with Javeline TelePort, released open source last year, Ajax applications can fully embrace the web2.0 by accessing web services on any server, using any protocol without the hassle of using different interfaces or different libraries. Javeline SmartBindings is TelePort aware and utilizes it’s functionality to automatically notify any data source of changes made by the user. Javeline applications have been successfully built on top of JSP/.NET/PHP/Perl. One example is the eBuddy webmessenger client available on http://bern.ebuddy.com/vm070713/start.jsp.

“With the growing demand for a community supporting website for PlatForm, we created our developer website at http://developer.javeline.net. Besides the download section, there is a continuous stream of articles and tutorials posted by bloggers. The bug tracker and documentation section support the starting and advanced Javeline developers in their quest for a powerful way to create Ajax applications.” says Rik Arends, CTO of Javeline.

Pricing and Availability: Javeline PlatForm is available for download from the http://developer.javeline.net/download.php., where regular updates to the software will be posted. Additional information about Javeline PlatForm is available at http://www.javeline.com/product-platform.php
