AdSense Custom channels limited to a total of 200 custom and URL channels, help you track ad performance and enable advertisers to target their ads for maximum impact, while URL channels allow you to deep-dive into the performance of AdSense for content on your subdomains.
Today, Google has announced of “raising this limit to 500 custom channels per product, and 500 URL channels for AdSense for content.”
“This change will enable you to expand your testing, and you’ll be able to do more granular analysis of how different formats, ad styles, and ad types perform. In addition, you can use your increased allocation of custom channels to create new ad placements for advertisers to target directly. This can help increase the amount you earn from placement targeting, as advertisers will be able to review the information you’ve provided about your ad units to match their campaigns to your site and audience,” explains Alex Benton, AdSense Engineering.
You’ll see your available custom channels count clearly displayed in the custom channels table, and also highlighted in the “create new custom channel” pop-up.
In other Google news, Google AdWords team has announced a AdWords API servers certificates change. “As part of routine upgrades to our infrastructure to improve performance and reliability and along with the announced sunsets scheduled for February 29th, we are planning to change our SSL certificates to use wildcards in the common name (CN). Our certificates will therefore be configured as CN *.google.com instead of adwords.google.com,” stated AdWords API Team.
“In most cases we foresee no changes required on your side, but we recommend testing your code to ensure your transport layer can handle this type of certificate. To test this you can send an API request against our sandbox environment, which has always used wildcards in its certificate. If your request works with the sandbox, you can rest assured that this change will not affect your production code. If you encounter host verification errors, we recommend updating your SSL libraries and retesting. As always, we encourage you to post any questions or concerns regarding this change in our forum,” the AdWords API Team writes.
