AIR for Android runtime is now available in Android Market, enabling developers to push mobile AIR apps built with Adobe’s developer platform. You’ll need a handset with Android 2.2 (Froyo). “Adobe AIR let you publish ActionScript 3 projects to run as native apps (.apk) for Android OS. Developers can write new code or reuse existing web content to build AIR apps for Android. Because the source code and assets are reusable across Flash Platform runtimes, AIR and Flash Player, it also gives developers a way to more easily target other mobile and desktop environments,” explained Adobe.
There’re several AIR apps for Android OS developed in Adobe’s private beta (prerelease) built using ActionScript 3:
- Games: BaoZi Jump!, Chroma Circuit, Fruit Smash Organic, Happy Peg, Mahjong, Mingoville Sudoku, MoaiMawashi, Pop Pies, Qrossfire, Slots O’Luck, Tik Tak Zoo, World Geography Hangman, Gold Strike.
- Instructional: AS3TV, CavityFree 3D, Dermoscopy Tutorial, Digit Cards, Magenn, PlayNLearn, StarMatchABC, StudyShuffler, Vasectomy App, Brush, First Aid, SpriteABC.
- Entertainment/Utilities: BlogRadio, Innocent Angel, Moobix, mWine, mytoons, Nabdroid, SketchNSave, Tiny Dot Edit.
