Zynga, behind the hit social games such as "FarmVille and Mafia Wars," is expanding its operation to Seattle. The company on its job board says that it's "building a world-class team of web engineers in Seattle," and "hiring at all levels from associate engineers to architects." "We're building something that needs your skills. Your goal is to build next, best-of-breed apps that we need at high speeds in a fast paced environment. You'll construct interactive sites that render instantly and are easily extendable."
The expansion will give Zynga a foothold to compete for new employees against companies such as PopCap Games, Big Fish Games, Microsoft, RealNetworks, and WildTangent.
Zynga follows companies including Facebook and Hulu in announcing plans to expand operations to the Seattle region. Google opened its first office in the region in 2004.
