Yahoo! previewed a new search experience called "rich" search results in the news and entertainment niches. Yahoo! hint at what's to come, using a "lady gaga" search query. The new search experience includes a content box above organic results with vertical content tabs for news, events, albums, images, video, and Twitter. There also appears to be a list of related entertainers atop the content box. Likewise, Yahoo says news-related searches will also show articles, photos, videos, and tweets grouped together.
Yahoo's "Trending Now" lists will lead to search results with slideshows and article content that explain why a word or phrase is trending. To see the slideshows, clicking a trending term, will show a results page featuring a slideshow of the top images related to term in the center of the page and a list of other trending topics on left side of the page. By clicking a topic with photo icon (like "Sandra Bullock" or "Jerry Seinfeld" in the mock below), you can browse through slideshows of trending stories. You can explore more about the topic within the slideshow by clicking related links to the right of each image or the search result listings underneath.
