According to a new Yahoo! study, 56% of people say they share information via social networks like Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis or even more frequently.
According to Y!’s Global Product Insights team and Brand and Consumer Marketing insights team that conducted the study, “”Power Sharers” tend to be younger, male, and more liberal (both socially and politically). Although they’re a minority (they make up 15% of all social network users), they tend to be more passionate, aggressive and opinionated in how they use social networking sites,” informs Yahoo!.
In addition to the typical sharing motivations (wanting to share content that’s entertaining, informative and helps people express themselves), Power Sharers gravitate toward more controversial content. Yahoo!’s researchers found that they’re motivated by the need to start and develop provocative digital dialogues.
