Yahoo! announced a new technology called “vertical lens,” (replacing old Search Builder tool) that allows developers build their own vertical search engines using Yahoo’s search technology, through BOSS.

TechCrunch depolyed vertical lens. This new search engine enables TechCrunch users to search for technology-focused articles and company information across both the TechCrunch network of sites and the rest of the Web. BOSS vertical lens technology provides a handful of features: “real-time indexing of proprietary content; customized ranking; structured search; blending web with proprietary content in a single search display.”
