Microsoft's employees contributed nearly $2.1 million dollars to Barack Obama's 2012 Presidential re-election, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
Also, today, a new Microsoft campaign focused on "online privacy" which aims to help raise awareness on how users can have greater choice and control as they browse the internet launches.
Microsoft, of course, recommends Internet Explorer 10 as the browser of choice for enhanced security and privacy. And, revealed that 85% of Americans are concerned about their online privacy, but less than that take any action about it.
The new web page, when visited offers a quiz and identifies your privacy tendencies and preferences. After the quiz, you are presented with tips on how to turn your new awareness into action.
Latest build of Redis for Windows is now available as on April 22, for download from the MS Open Tech Github repo.
For those not aware, "Redis is an in-memory database that persists on disk. The data model is key-value, but many different kind of values are supported: Strings, Lists, Sets, Sorted Sets, Hashes."
"In phase I of our stress testing, we put Redis on Windows through various tests with execution times ranging from 1 to 16 days, and configurations ranging from a simple single-master setup to more complex configurations such as the one shown below, with one master and four replicas," explains Microsoft.
Microsoft also released an update to the Exchange Server 2013 Deployment Assistant, that now include the following new scenarios:
- "Upgrading from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
- Upgrading from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013
- Configuring an Exchange 2013-based hybrid deployment for Exchange 2007 organizations."

XDT (XML Document Transform) released on codeplex.com, is a simple and straight forward method of transforming web.config during publishing/packaging in Visual Studio 2010.
"This support is called XML Document Transform, aka XDT. It allows you to transform any XML file, not just web.config. To learn more about XDT check out the docs," microsoft adds.
Finally, also available today, is the Xbox SmartGlass app for Android, that allows you to convert your mobile device into a smart second screen for entertainment.
Xbox SmartGlass is a free downloadable app that works on Windows 8, Windows RT, Apple's iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, and now the Kindle Fire and Kindle HD.
"Interact with your favorite TV shows, movies, music, sports, and games, and bring remote control to a whole new level. You can also connect with your Xbox friends, track and compare your achievements, and change up your 3D avatar," the app description reads.
